Hessle returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win over Malet Lambert, at a wet & windy Blackburn Leisure. Hessle should have had this game sewn up by half time, as they created at least four glorious chances but failed to even test the keeper with their efforts. Malet had a chance to open the scoring, but were foiled by L. Picken who blocked well when he was left exposed, to face a one on one situation.
Hessle opened the scoring when Gardiner scored from close range following a corner inside 5 minutes of the restart. Dom Bird was rewarded for his hard work when he finished well after latching on to Briggs deft flick to make it 2-0 in the 55th minute. Malet were still in the game but were finding it hard to create any clear cut chances, & were always susceptible to
Hessle’s quick breaks, which was the case when Gardiner scored his 2nd to make it 3-0. Malet made a couple of substitutions which did make an impact, as they kept battling & forced a couple of good saves just to remind Hessle that the contest was not won yet. But it was Hessle who had the last say when S. Ransom finished well to make it 4-0 & the 3 points Hessle’s.
